Algonquin Provincial Park
Algonquin is one of the great gems of Ontario’s Provincial Parks system. It is a four-season destination, with some of the most accessible backcountry wilderness in southern Ontario. The Park boundary is only twenty minutes from Hidden Valley. If you’ve never been, it’s time to go!

Arrowhead Provincial Park
A little closer to town, Arrowhead Provincial Park offers activities for visitors in many seasons, though they do have a shut-down in the late fall and early spring. In the winter, Arrowhead has fantastic groomed ski trails and also a well-known skating trail. Rental equipment is also available from their friendly staff. A word to the wise, planning to visit in the morning is a good idea, as it often gets quite busy on winter weekend afternoons. However, the skating trail is often not open until late-morning. It’s a good idea to check in before you go.

Dorset Lookout Tower
The Dorset Tower is a Muskoka classic. Located in the village of Dwight at the south-east end of Lake of Bays, the tower offers amazing views of the lake and surrounding hills. It’s located on the top of an escarpment and lifts the viewer above a mature forest canopy. It’s especially impressive during the fall colour season.

Huntsville Library
Located in town, on Minerva Street, the library is an excellent location for local information and resources. On rainy weather days, the library is an interesting place to visit. If you discover an interest in Muskoka’s history or just need to hook up to some fast, free WiFi, take a trip to the library.

Town of Huntsville Leisure Guide
Twice a year, the Town publishes a summary of all of their programs and facility schedules. It’s a good way to find out what’s going on in and around town. It includes important contact information, and also information about public skating times, public swims, Huntsville Heritage Place (and the Portage Flyer train ride!) and many other items of interest to visitors and residents.
